About the App

Bookloom is a privacy-first book notes app for Android. You scan any book's barcode, create chapters, write notes, and attach files — all organised around the book itself. Everything syncs across your devices and your notes are encrypted so only you can read them.

Students, self-learners, competitive exam aspirants, and anyone who reads seriously and takes notes. If you've ever lost a note, forgotten which chapter something came from, or had your highlights scattered across five different apps — Bookloom is for you.

We're currently in active development and UI design. Join the waitlist and you'll get one email the moment it's live on the Play Store. No spam, no newsletters — just the launch notification.

iOS support is on the roadmap as a future goal. The first release will be Android only. If you're on iPhone, join the waitlist anyway — we'll notify iOS waitlist members separately when that changes.

Yes. Bookloom uses Google Sign-In to sync your library across devices. We don't store passwords — authentication is handled entirely through Google OAuth. ARVstudios never sees or stores your Google credentials.

Privacy & Encryption

No. Never. Your notes are encrypted on your device using AES-256-GCM before they're ever synced. We only store the encrypted version. Without your secret key — which never leaves your device — nobody can read your notes. Not us, not anyone.

Your notes cannot be recovered. This is intentional — it's what zero-knowledge encryption means. If we could recover your key, it would mean we had access to your notes, which defeats the entire point. During setup, Bookloom asks you to acknowledge this with a checkbox. Write your key down somewhere safe.

No. Encryption is strongly recommended but optional. You can skip it during onboarding and enable it later from Settings at any time. When you enable it retroactively, all your existing notes are encrypted in the background automatically.

Files are stored in your own Google Drive — not on ARVstudios servers. Bookloom creates organised folders inside your Drive (Bookloom/BookName/Chapter/). You own the files completely. Even if our database were compromised, your files would be safe because we only store a reference ID, not the actual file.

AES-256-GCM for note encryption, PBKDF2 with SHA-256 for key derivation, and Android Keystore for secure on-device key storage. These are the same standards used by banks, Apple iCloud Keychain, and governments. All network communication is HTTPS enforced. Your secret key is never transmitted anywhere.

We store your name, email, an encrypted version of your Data Encryption Key, and the structure of your library — book titles, chapter names, and encrypted note content. We never store your secret key, your Google OAuth token, or your actual files. Your files live in your Google Drive, not ours.

Pricing & Subscription

Yes. Unlimited books, chapters, and notes — free forever. Core functionality is never locked behind a paywall. The only differences between free and premium are ads, file upload unlocking, and the QR Chapter Index feature.

Free users watch a single short rewarded ad to unlock 48 hours of unlimited file uploads. After 48 hours, watch another whenever you need it. You're never hard-blocked from uploading — it's just one ad away. Premium subscribers skip this step entirely and get permanent unlimited uploads with no ads.

Both give you identical features — permanent unlimited file uploads, QR Chapter Index, and zero ads. The only difference is price. Monthly is ₹99/month. Yearly is ₹299/year, which works out to roughly ₹25/month — a 75% saving over paying monthly. If you're a serious reader, yearly is the obvious choice.

Native ads only — styled to blend with book cards in your library. Zero ads in the note editor, zero ads in chapter view, no banners, no pop-ups, no interstitials while you're actively reading or writing. We respect the reading experience too much for that. The only exception is a single rewarded ad you choose to watch when you want to unlock 48 hours of file uploads.

Yearly Premium subscribers lock in their rate at the time of purchase. If pricing changes in the future, existing subscribers keep their current price for as long as they stay subscribed.

Bookloom's yearly plan at ₹299 — roughly ₹25/month — is already priced with students in mind. No separate discount is planned at launch, but this may change based on feedback from the community.

All payments go through Google Play Billing. ARVstudios never sees or stores your payment details. Billing, receipts, and cancellations are all managed directly through your Google Play account.

Through your Google Play account — go to Play Store → Subscriptions → Bookloom → Cancel. No hoops, no "cancel retention" flows, no emails required. Google handles it cleanly.

Technical

Yes. Bookloom uses a local Room database on your device as a cache. You can read and write notes without an internet connection. Changes sync automatically the next time you're online. You'll never see a loading spinner for content you've already viewed.

Bookloom requires Android 7.0 (API 24) or higher. It's optimised for Android 15 (API 35) and works on the vast majority of Android devices currently in use.

Bookloom uses Google ML Kit's barcode scanner to read ISBN barcodes from physical books. It works completely on-device — no internet required to scan. If your book doesn't have a scannable barcode, you can enter the ISBN manually as a fallback.

A Premium feature unique to Bookloom. Generate a printable PDF containing a QR code for each chapter of a book — like a scannable table of contents. Print it, slip it inside your physical book, and scan any chapter's code to jump directly to your notes for that chapter. No searching, no scrolling.

Yes. Your entire library syncs via Supabase in real time. Switch devices anytime — your books, chapters, and notes follow you perfectly. Files sync through your own Google Drive.

Your data stays safe in Supabase and your Google Drive. Reinstall the app, sign in with the same Google account, and everything is restored. If you had encryption enabled, you'll need your secret key to unlock your notes again.
