1. Introduction
Welcome to Bookloom. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
2. Information We Collect
a) Account Information
When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account. This is used solely to identify your account.
b) Notes and Content
Notes you create are stored in our database. If you enable encryption your notes are encrypted on your device before being stored — meaning we cannot read them under any circumstances.
c) Files and Attachments
Files you attach are stored directly in your own Google Drive. We do not store your files on our servers. We only store a reference ID pointing to the file in your Drive.
d) Usage Data
We do not collect analytics, usage tracking or behavioural data.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide and maintain the Bookloom service
- Sync your notes across your devices
- Identify your account
- Enable file attachment via Google Drive
We do not:
- Sell your data to third parties
- Use your data for advertising
- Share your data with anyone
- Read your encrypted notes
4. Data Storage
Notes & Account Data
Stored securely on Supabase — a trusted cloud database provider. Row Level Security ensures only you can access your own data.
Files & Attachments
Stored in your personal Google Drive. We have no control over and take no responsibility for Google Drive's storage or availability.
Encryption Keys
Encryption keys are never stored on our servers. Your secret key exists only on your device.
5. Zero Knowledge Encryption
If you enable encryption in Bookloom:
- Your notes are encrypted on your device before being sent to our servers
- We cannot read your notes under any circumstances
- Your secret key is never transmitted to or stored on our servers
- If you lose your secret key your encrypted notes cannot be recovered by anyone including us
This is a deliberate privacy design decision. Your thoughts belong to you and only you.
6. Google Services
Bookloom uses the following Google services:
Google Sign In
For authentication. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy
Google Drive API
For file storage. Files are stored in your personal Drive account. We request only the minimum permissions necessary to create and access files created by Bookloom.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account data and notes for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.
8. Children's Privacy
Bookloom is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app. Continued use of Bookloom after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
